Thing 6: Using Image Generators

I could spend many hours playing around with these image generators!
This is the trading card I created. When I was a kindergarten teacher, I could've used this program to make "Memory" game cards out of the students pictures by making two of each.

ImageChef.com - Custom comment codes for MySpace, Hi5, Friendster and moreI like this blinking sign. I think something like this would be a good addition to my school web page. I created it on Image Chef.

Thing 5: More Fun with Flickr

Here is the mashup I tried, the puzzle. I thought I was actually going to be able to put it together. Another one that looked fun was the captioneer.

Thing 4: Exploring Flickr

I don't have a digital camera yet (can you believe it?) so I downloaded this from the Flickr website. I searched for "shepherd husky" This dog looks almost just like mine from this angle. My dog's name is Maddie. When I first found it, I had searched for "shepherd husky." Then today, when I decided to put it on the blog, I used "husky shepherd." Although I saw many of the same dogs, they were in a different order!

Thing 3: RSS Feeds

I had no trouble setting up the Google Reader account but I got frustrated trying to find professional blogs related to Library Media. A collegue from SPPS, a technology coach, Deb K. gave me the names of some good sites: Doug Johnson's, Joyce Valencia's etc. I then felt satisfied. Now as I read those, I'm sure I'll discover others and my list will grow.

It will also be fun finding some RSS feeds related to some of my personal interests.

Thing 2

I've spent a couple of hours reading up on Web 2.o. I find it interesting that libraries are shifting into working with content created by the patrons as well as by authoritative sources. Keeping up with and integrating technology continue to be part of the job of libraries and librarians.

Thing 1 (Continued):creating and exporting an avatar

Again, I didn't read the directions very well. When I looked at the other blogs, everyone had an avatar. When I reread directions for creating the blog, there is was, #5, Creating an avatar. I had some trouble exporting it until I followed advise from a friend and printed out the directions. Then I followed them step by step until I got it!

Thing 1: Creating a Blog

Good thing I called the Metronet office to see what to do next, because I had goofed and my blog name had already been used. I have to admit, I didn't follow directions well. I signed up through the 23Things website before I had a blog registered. Now I think I got it all straightened out and am ready for the next project.
